SMC-300 Site Management Controller
A flexible, feature-rich solution
for reliable and immediate alarm notification from a remote site
allowing support staff to know when, where and why a problem has
occurred, so they can provide prompt corrective action well before
comfort or safety is affected.
The SMC-300 captures, buffers,
and prioritizes alarms from devices on a local LonWorks® network
and then automatically dials-out and routes the alarms to local
or remote computers or pagers based on configurable priority, alarm
type and schedule.
By dialing-out to a remote computer
that is running Circon’s Visual
Integrator 3, the SMC-300 provides a reliable
and economical approach for central monitoring of remote sites.
Visual Integrator 3’s comprehensive alarm management functions include
displaying alarms the moment they are received, logging alarms in
history database and forwarding alarms by email to any email-enabled
device.
The SMC-300:
- captures, buffers, and prioritizes alarms
from devices on a LonWorks network.
- works with all Circon 300-series
devices and any open, interoperable LonWorks device
that supports the LonMark® standard alarm network variable
of type SNVT_alarm.
- automatically dials-out and routes alarms
to multiple destinations over the inexpensive and ubiquitous public
standard telephone network.
- monitors up to 250 devices on the local network
and generates an alarm should a failure be detected.
- sends periodic heartbeat notifications to
verify that it too continues to function.
- includes a modem and SLTA-10-equivalent network
interface in single compact enclosure, allowing a network management
tool such as Circon’s Network
Integrator 3 to dial-in to perform site maintenance
activities, saving the time and cost of unnecessary service calls.
- includes a battery-backed hardware clock, making
SMC-300 ideally suited as the network’s master time source,
saving the cost of an additional special purpose device.
- is password-protected; without the valid password
the SMC-300 will not allow the remote computer dialing-in
to access the network.
