What's New

Discovery Capital Acquires Control of Circon

Circon announced the purchase by Discovery Capital Corporation of GE Capital's majority interest in the company. Discovery Capital (www.discoverycapital.com -- TSX:DVY.V) is a public company that specializes in acquiring and growing technology businesses. A strong believer in Circon's people and technology, Discovery Capital was one of the principal supporters of the company in its early growth years, and maintained and increased its investment in Circon after control was acquired by General Electric in 2000. Discovery Capital has now committed its financial and management resources to ensuring Circon's long-term stability and full realization of its growth potential.

Additions to Power House Sales Team

Circon announced the return of Steve Floth and Sean Kennedy to its expanding sales team. Steve and Sean, who were key members of Circon's sales team while the company was dynamically expanding its integrator customer base, have returned to Circon based on strong assessments of the growth potential and workplace excitement that have been unlocked by Discovery Capital's financial and management commitments to the company.

SMC Certification

Circon announced the LonMark 3.3 Certification of its Site Management Controller (SMC-300). The SMC-300 complies with LonMark interoperability guidelines and is designed for use in open, multi-vendor, interoperable LonWorks® networks. With easy to configure alarm management and dial-out software the SMC-300 is a cost-effective platform to capture, prioritize and queue alarms for devices on a local LonWorks network. The SMC-300 will dial out and route alarms to local or remote computers or pagers based on the priority, alarm type and schedule.

Complementary Product Spotlight

AirTest - Sensors that make buildings smart

AirTest has created an energy analysis program that uses local climatic and energy data to calculate the savings from CO2 ventilation control. The program uses information collected with the PT9250 to determine the current ventilation rate in a space or building. The program then compares the energy cost of an existing fixed-design based ventilation system to the energy cost of a CO2-based demand control ventilation strategy. The program will be released with versions available for each state and province.

This program is available free of charge with every PT9250 sold now until the end of November. Click on the link to download a sample version of the program at www.airtest.ca/docs/ea/easample.zip . While your visiting the AirTest website (www.airtest.ca), download The 7 Steps To Assessing CO2 Ventilation Retrofits article which discusses how the program is used to determine energy savings as well as calculating payback and ROI for a project.
